My View: No doubt all awards have their share of controversies say National Awards, Filmfare, and Oscars etc..., and how our Padma Awards can be different. No Awards committee can make everyone happy. However names of Saif Ali, Rekha, Sant Chatwal, Md Mir(J&K) have surprised most including me. I am not able to understand how these people are meeting criteria as mentioned above. If these people can get Padma Awards, every citizen of this country should get this Award, as we all are doing some work in our respective fields to earn living.

I suggest there should be transparency in recommendation and selection process and Award committee should highlight each winner’s exceptional and distinguished services/contribution in their respective fields in minimum 100 words. I am sure this will satisfy most of us.
